周杰倫 Imposter?!?
Last tuesday, there was this particular customer on Ladies' night that stole the lime light. He came clad in jeans and jacket with a cap that covered most of his face. More or less like the pic above hmm hmm~
So when it was his turn to go up stage to sing, he imitated Jay Chou's way of speaking and stance much to the amuse of everyone~ Hahaha~ luckily he didn't sing Jay's song! LOL~ But then again, his singing was good and he got invited to take part in the competition on Thursday! Looking forward to more of your "acting" and good vocals Ivan! Kudos~! =)

Live Workshop Concert!
Last tuesday and wednesday, we had Live Concerts for those who took part in the Live Workshop! This concert is to showcase whatever they have learnt throughout the workshop and put it to good use!
On wednesday itself, we had 8 singers holding their personal concerts at Hark Cafe! Cheering them on is their families, friends, spouses etc who came down to lend their support! Handoko, Jacqueline, Liling, Fiona, Guan Zong, Amy, Pearlyn and Leona were the stars of the night~ And mind you... they do get graded for their performances on stage and the judges were the receptive audience! A few interesting moments was when Pearlyn danced sexily to her song which surely made a few males drooled~ *slurpz* And when Guan Zong finished singing his songs, the hosts called him "歌神". He replied cooly with this quote: "神也是人,只是他做了人做不到的事,所以他变成神" Well said well said~ =p
There were bad comments and good comments about the singers but this one particularly took the cake~ Someone commented that Liling acted cute despite being so old during her performance! Come on... who said older people can't act cute??? Wei Cai (host of the night) also act cute what... somemore he more elder than Liling~! hahaha~ Right Wei Cai? =p
News Update!
This is the 2nd week that our new program has been launched! It has been met with both warm and cold responses though. Warm response such as it was entertaining to have 4 different shows with themes. Customers can get to try songs in different versions such as dance and rock. Cold responses such as why they have to go the counter to register for the shows and why some people registered a lot of songs at one go. But fret not! We are in the process of refining the process so we need more feedback from you customers. So keep it coming~ =)
On Saturday, we see quite a number of patrons celebrating their birthday at Hark Music Café Bar! First, we had Kaijing who invited about 20 over friends over for a celebration. They stayed throughout the entire show from 7pm plus all the way till 1am! And boy, most of them can really sing! Our staffs had plenty of chances to present our ‘Ying Xiong Tie’ to the star-crooners…and we bet those who were here at Hark on Sat, must have had a feast to their ears.
We also had a beautiful lady who gave a surprise romantic, sweet birthday dedication to her husband (they just got married last month!) when the clock strikes twelve...Awww...that’s really SWEET….=)
And also a group of guys who sa-bo their birthday friend (they secretly registered his name at the counter), for Show D as the 1st performer of the show!
With our forever humourous hosts, you bet all had a wonderful laugh. One of the customers wrote on our comment slip, that it’s been ages since he had a good laugh! Laughter is afterall the best medicine! Cast your blues away!
Oh ya, one special moment worth mentioning was a guy who sang ‘每次醒来 ' Acapella throughout the entire song…yeah, of course he delivered it very well, with stable falsetto, ending with natural vibrato…the main highlight was that the entire café was completely hushed to a complete silence as he progresses to the chorus…all our service and bar crews were also working in a more slower and quieter pace for that 3 mins..haha..it was really a first time experience here for us, and definitely same goes for the audience, we bet.
From the blogger comments received from customers at the café, our service crew should be given a pat on the back for their friendly services. “Attentive! Fast! Friendly! Give the customers a feeling of warmth as they feel they are being well taken care of!”
Well done Kenn, Yi Xian, Lee Yen, blah blah blah (Too many to name!)….
So, we will be planning to do a Service Crew Focus Blog Entry on you guys & girls one of these days! Keep up the good work~ and keep your heads up and Smile~~~ =)
A more structured Live 演唱 for you!!
Yes!! We have introduced 4 shows into our Live 演唱 Fridays and Saturdays and segmented them to suit your needs. From relaxed mood to High 翻天 Rock music, we have it all here in Hark Music Café Bar!! How does it work?
Well, Café patrons who wants to have a 5 min shot at stardom on stage are required to register with our counter before 9.00 pm, where they can choose to deliver their entries according to the show themes (6 to 8 participants per show):
Show A: 开唱第一场 (9.00 to 9.45 pm)
A relaxed opening to a happening night ahead.
Simple, cozy, intimate accompaniment for first timers who simply wants to try stage performance without the anxiety of coordinating with the full band…
Show B: 尽情第二场 (10.00 to 10.45 pm)
The idea here is “Feel”…
Ballads are sang with fuller accompaniment (e.g. Keyboard, Guitar and drums)…
Great slot for those who love to croon to love songs…
Show C: 劲爆第三场 (11.00 to 11.45 pm)
As the name suggests, its time to bring out the cavalry and rock the hour away!!
Even ballads will be delivered in ROCK style!!
Show D: 午夜完结场 (12.00 to 1.00 am)
The Midnight Finale!! Its free style from here onwards.
Participants may belt out any type of songs.
Our host will throw out more daring comments!!
And for those who failed to bring any messages across to their loved ones, friends or family earlier, this Finale is your final chance to deliver it!!
How was it on the first 2 nights these shows were launched?
小范 (not her real name): It was terrific!! I know the time slot that I am supposed to sing and don’t have to wait blindly for my turn!!
Alvin: My first time trying out a ballad in ROCK version… One word: SHIOK!!
And what does the audience have to say?
One of them exclaimed, “ The host was wonderful!! Did not expect the co-host to mingle with us and even had me comment on my friend’s performance!!”
Another patron also said, “Great idea. Now I know what time I am supposed to show up for the music I like”
Well folks, glad you enjoyed your time with our new shows!!
Great job to all the musicians and 5-min stars!!
Live 比一比 – 1st qualifying Rd for Aug 06
^For tonight’s competition, our band finally had a chance to take a break!!
Why was that so? Well, it’s because our very first contestant for the night, Chiaw Sang, decided to play (the keyboard) and sing himself!! And it was a touching song he did: 眼泪. Great job man!!
It must have melted those girls’ hearts to see a young, talented guy playing relatively well on the piano and singing himself. Oh! He mentioned that he participated in Campus Superstar and Singapore Idol too!!
The 2nd contestant was a lady by the name of Tidey, whose friends got her here on the pretext of celebrating her birthday (this was indeed the actual day). They sort of sabotaged her by registering her in the competition without her knowledge!! We guess she must be kind of shocked and surprised… but hey, what better way to celebrate a birthday than to have a blasting time on Hark Music Café’s stage??
Another contestant whom we would like to mention and give encouragement to is Jonathan, who did a lot of 准备功夫 for the show tonight. From doing his hair, getting the right attire and even stage presence, he just about prepared himself to the fullest!!
It is a pity though, that his rendition of 曹操 (with very interesting movements on stage - Check out the photos below!!) failed to secure him a place (actually he missed by a little only) in the semi finals as the audience votes were not in his favour.
So, Jonathan, if you are reading this, don’t despair man!! Join us in the competition again next month. You’d probably want to consider choosing a more friendly song to gain more votes from the audience, ya? Our judges and management would love to see you back on stage!!
^Our judges giving a conetstant some tips!So the 4 persons who are going to the semifinals are:
Chiaw Sang: 眼泪
Tidey: 枫
Quan Wei: 爱你等于爱自己
Annie: 氧气
